About James Cordier
James Cordier became a licensed commodity broker in 1983, and over the ensuing years he reached the pinnacle of the commodity trading industry. While running a successful trading firm, James rose to prominence as an author and market analyst. His first book, The Complete Guide to Option Selling, was published by McGraw Hill in 2004. Now in its third edition, it has been translated into multiple languages around the world.
James became a familiar face on CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business, making dozens of appearances over the years when these financial media outlets needed a commodity market specialist to weigh in on a topic – whether it was a fluctuation in the price of gold, surging crude oil prices, or a hurricane bearing down on Florida’s orange groves.
In addition to providing his market commentary to the media, James produced his own articles and newsletters which were provided to clients. He began making these available to the public free of charge, spurring the launch of The Cordier Commodity Report to offer high level commodity analysis to professional traders.
James’ fourth book, Reflections of an Option Seller: The Rise, Fall and Return of a Commodity Market Maverick details his career and the reason he stepped away from the public eye in 2018.
